Opportunity: Board Member, East Wellington Family Health Team (Dec 2022)
East Wellington Family Health Team (EWFHT) is community‐led not‐for‐profit organization that receives funding from the Ministry of Health and Long‐Term Care to provide quality primary health care services to over 12,400patients in the East Wellington community. The EWFHT operates clinics in Erin and Rockwood, Ontario, and consists of doctors, nurses, dieticians, mental health workers, and other health care professionals who work collaboratively, each utilizing their experience and skills so that patients receive the very best care, when they need it, as close to home as possible.
The EWFHT is seeking candidates to serve on its Board of Directors and Standing Committees. Volunteer your skills and experience to help shape the design and delivery of healthcare in East Wellington now for
the future.
We want to welcome people who are passionate about our community and who represent the diverse community that we serve. This includes a commitment to achieving a Board membership that reflects
the broadest range of qualifications, skills, experiences, perspectives, and the many personal identities (intersectionality) essential to advancing our mission.
We are seeking Directors and Committee Members who:
- Commit to addressing barriers to equitable health
- Have experience and skills related to Board governance, cultural inclusion, and anti‐oppression
- Reflect the diversity of our community. We encourage applications from the following priority groups:
Black, Racialized and People of Colour, Newcomers or refuges to Canada with various language skills, members of visible minority groups, Indigenous communities, including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis the 2SLGBTQIA community, and persons with disabilities. We are currently an all‐female board and are looking to be more inclusive and have representation from all genders.
- A strong legal background in corporate law, non‐profit law, PHIPA (Privacy) and/or Employment Law OR skills and experience in IT will be considered assets.
- Do not hold a paid position or a contract for services with the organization.
Responsibilities of Board Members
- Preparing for and attending Board and Committee meetings, upholding their fiduciary obligations and working cooperatively and respectfully with other Board members. Board meetings are held on the last Monday of each Month (no meetings July & August). Meetings are virtual and in person in either our Erin or Rockwood clinic locations.
- Oversight of the operations and management of the EWFHT by the Executive Director and other members of the Management Team, including financial oversight.
- Ensure that the organization adheres to its vision, mission and values.
- Participate in Committee work, that could include the following committees: Equity Diversity and Inclusion , Fundraising/PR, Finance, Governance and Strategic Planning, Risk and Governance and HR.
